These will be our first “Forest Immersion” walks.  Perhaps you have heard of the Japanese practice of “Forest Bathing” or “Forest Therapy”.  This short walk is designed to let you slow down, put aside technology, and take time to fully notice the wonder of the forest with all your senses.

Reed-Turner is a favorite of ours with the ephemeral wildflowers, hidden lake, old-growth forest, ravine, and rippling brook.

Washroom

There is not an outhouse on site. There is an outhouse at the Heron Creek playground, just north of Reed-Turner.

What to expect

This is a new and different type of walk/experience for Trailbound Trips.  We will seek to immerse our senses in the forest and allow nature to refocus ourselves. We hope that you will walk away feeling refreshed and invigorated. Julie Kanak, a certified Forest Therapy guide, and an experienced Trailbound Trips guide, will be leading these walks.

We will wander into the deep ravine that holds the Indian Creek, through restored prairie, and into virgin oak-hickory woodlands. Our trail takes us along Reed Pond, an 8-acre bay that opens up to the large Salem Lake.
