Bird Migration in Savanna, IL, April 16-17, 2025
The Upper Mississippi River Valley is a migration route for over 290 species of birds and waterfowl.
Treat yourself to witness the amazing miracle of bird and waterfowl migration along the Mississippi River Valley corridor. Hundreds of thousands of waterfowl travel through this area. We will walk in a protected space where these ducks and birds rest on their way north.
Our destinaion is Savanna, IL, home to Mississippi Palisades State Park that has towering cliffs overlooking the Mississippi. We will also walk though Spring Lake Sanctuary, a no hunting zone for waterfowl and onto the Thomson Causeway to see 1,000’s of breeding White Pelican.
Over two days expect to learn and identify birds from expert birders, Laura Simpson and Barb Caron. Lodging cost & meals are on your own. Rooms are held for a 10% discount under Trailbound Trips, but you must call and make the reservation the Quality Inn & Suites in Savanna, IL.
