The Upper Mississippi River Valley is a migration route for over 290 species of birds and waterfowl.

Treat yourself to witness the amazing miracle of bird and waterfowl migration along the Mississippi River Valley corridor. 100’s of thousands of waterfowl and birds depend upon this habitat. We shall walk along a protected area in the backwaters of the Mississippi River that the US Fish and Wildlife protects. We will also explore the Mississippi Palisades State Park that has towering cliffs overlooking the Mississippi, that is home to warbling songbirds, vireos, tanagers, and so much more. On our second day, we will end with kayaking in the calm backwaters of the Mighty Mississippi, to see the wildlife from a different view. All this takes place within the town of Savanna, IL and it’s surrounding area.

Over two days expect to learn and identify birds from expert birders, Laura Simpson and Barb Caron. Lodging cost & meals are on your own. Rooms are held under Trailbound Trips, but you must make the reservation under your name at the Quality Inn & Suites in Savanna, IL.

Registration cost covers:

  • Three leaders throughout the getaway.
